Day 21 Cruise Day 10 Hobart, Tasmania
Today, everybody has to get off the ship and do customs in Australia. No problem for us, because it just becomes part of our shore excursion.
They had fresh, warm biscuit with butter and jam, meats and cheeses, and fresh fruit. We are told when there is multiple roadkill, it is a sign of a healthy ecosystem producing lots of critters. The guide says they are wallabies and possums, but I can't tell what they are when mangled on the road. Tasmanian devils come out at night to feed on the roadkill and, in the process, become roadkill themselves.
To exit the walkway, it simply terminates at ground level again, since the slope of the hill comes back up to meet it. The walkway was heavily damaged in a wildfire in 2019, and had to almost completely rebuilt, due to structural damaged making it unsafe. Then we walk down a trail followed by a loop through a rainforest.
That was the best part. Then it was up to the visitor center. We couldn't find a key chain we liked. We stopped in the port concourse and found Paul and Misty 's kids some shirts from a local vendor.
We are in Hobart, Tasmania. We're going to a forest where there is a skywalk 147 ft above the ground. We went through immigration, and of course the family in front of us did not follow instructions and didn't fill out the card. They must have told us 5x over the loudspeaker to do it. We are on the Red #8 bus. We drove through Hobart and into the countryside. Stopped at a small hotel for 'tea'.

Paul wanted to say hello to the dog we saw at the car park, but the man was leaving.
We traveled through a eucalyptus forest with tree ferns. I got to try a Tasmanian pepperberry leaf. Boy, a little dab'll do ya. It's pretty strong.
The Tahune Airwalk consisted of an elevated walkway, about 147 feet above the ground. You enter the walkway at ground level, and as you proceed, the land under you slopes away, so you are high above the ground. At one point, there is an out-n-back section supported simply as a cantilevered walkway. It had a pretty decent wobble to it. Didn't see any birds or hear any birds, but the views were stunning.
Then we came back for dinner, a magic show, and then the Liar's Club game.
