Day 14 Cruise Day 3 Port Bay of Islands
Tomorrow, we get to tender into the Bay of Islands for our excursion.
The Falls were cute. The paddle back was significantly easier, but not easy. And then we beached our kayak in the mud instead of the sand and sunk into the mud knee deep. I fell over in the mud and sat down. The guides had to help us out of the mud back into the kayak and drag us over to the sandy part where we could actually beach the kayaks. I had several clams that had somehow gotten in my sandals in the mud. I had to wade ashore and take my shoes off to get the clams out and then I could walk over to where they had a hose so we could wash off a bit. We're still muddy, but a lot better.
Then the long line for a tender to get back to the ship. The crew was passing out umbrellas to shade people that were waiting. We probably only waited 20 minutes for a tender.
I was self-conscious sitting next to anyone as I am a drowned rat. We are going to jump in the shower as soon as we get back.
I went to the gym and rode the bike, had a green smoothie, chia pudding, and a mocha, then went to Pilates class. It was hard. Then I went back to the room and Paul was just getting up. There were dolphins in the ships wake. Then we took Paul to breakfast, then to his quiz game, but we were too late to play.
Today we went kayaking across the bay and up a river to a small waterfall, Haruru Falls.
We got cleaned up and went to dinner, then got a fabulous dessert and went to the Elvis impersonator. He was pretty good.
